Robin Irene Moss firmly believes that home is where the heart is. Though her parents are both from New Jersey, she grew up a third-culture kid. She was born in Sri Lanka and spent her formative years in Egypt, before her family came back to the States to live in Maryland when she was 9.
At 18 she moved to New York City to study drama at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and stayed in the city until 2018 when she uprooted her life to move to the UK. After living in London and Edinburgh she is now as settled as she has ever been in rural Scotland where she lives with her partner and their adorable 3 year old. The years in between all those transitions held explorations down a number of different paths, all of which converged into a career she absolutely cherishes, as a narrator and voiceover artist.
She performed in every play and musical she could from childhood through college. She gigged as a singer/songwriter all over the US and Europe, spending many a late night crowded into the back room of a bar, playing guitar and singing with New York City’s contemporary folk music community. She taught music to babies and toddlers at daycares across Manhattan. Through it all she was a committed and enthusiastic babysitter who felt privileged to get to spend her days making memories with kids, and her nights making music with friends.
Like most non-practicing but culturally Jewish women, she is prone to overthinking and anxiety, but also self-reflection, which keeps things interesting with her British partner. Though they talk about their feelings a bit more than he would perhaps prefer, he has been her cheerleader while she learned to be a mother and developed her voiceover career in both narration and a whole host of other genres (commercial, corporate, eLearning, telephony, explainer, medical).
When the stars align she fits in her hobbies around childcare and recording—knitting/crocheting, baking, gardening, and walks in the countryside.
As one of her songs goes: “I wouldn’t call myself a lover or a fighter. I’m a thinker. I’ve been thinking all my life… and though thinking turns out to be the most important part of me it’s led to lots of love and lots of fights.”
